Teacher Raises her Hand
If the class is getting to loud and rowdy I as the teacher will raise my hand and the class will then follow what I do. The children will raise their hand also. I will countine doing different things to make sure the children are paying attention. I will tap my head or squat down. The children will do the same.
Flickering the Lights
Another way to get the students attion would be to flicker the lights. When this happens the students will know to sit in circle time and clean up their mess.
Green Light, Yellow Light, Red Light
There will be a board of every child's name with a stop light next to it. Each child will start on green and based on their behavior should stay on green. If a child shows behavior unsuitable for the classroom they will have to move their stop light to yellow. If the behavior continues or extremely disruptive behavior or harmful behavior occurs the child will have to move their light to red. Once a child is at red they have to go to the principal's office. The child has the opportunity to get back to green from yellow if they exhibit extraordinarily good behavior. At the end of the day the child will color a paper light the color they are on and will have their parent sign it and return it home. If the child is on any color other than green the teacher will write an explanation.
